ayurvedic porridge

In the autumn and winter our body can use a bit of extra warmth. This ayurvedische porridge is perfect for those cold and dark days. And your house smells beautiful. Apple pie vibes but with a 'healthy' twist!

This is what you need for 2 portions

  • 1 large tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 apple, washed and chopped
  • 1cm fresh root ginger in pieces
  • 1/2 tsp cardamon powder
  • 1/8 tsp powdered cloves
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp currants or raisins
  • 2 dried apricots chopped
  • 12 tbsp wheat, oat, spelt, rogge or rice flakes. Anna uses oat flakes (rolled oats)
  • 1 tbsp broken linseed
  • pinch of salt
  • 400ml boiled water

This is how you make it

Heat the coconut oil in a pan on the stove. Add the apple and ginger. Whilst stirring add the cardamon, cloves and cinnamon. Allow to simmer for five minutes. Add the currants/raisins and apricots and cook for another minute. Finally add the rolled oats, linseed, pinch of salt and water and simmer for another six to seven minutes. Once finished, pour into two bowls and breakfast is ready!
